TORSHAVN, Faroe Islands -- Eni Denmark has started drilling the latest deepwater exploration well off the Faroe Islands, according to partner Faroe Petroleum.
The semisubmersible Seadrill West Phoenix is drilling the commitment well (6004/8a-1) on the Anne Marie prospect, in 1,106 m (3,628 ft) of water, targeting Eocene/Palaeocene sandstone in a structural trap. The operation should last around 75 days.
The offshore location is 190 km (118 mi) southeast of the islands’ capital Torshavn
Other partners in the well are Dana Petroleum, OMV, and CIECO.
