OGX finds oil in shallow-water Campos basin

RIO DE JANEIRO -- OGX Petróleo e Gás Participações S.A. reports finding an oil-bearing interval in the Albian section of well 1-OGX-15-RJS in the shallow waters of block BM-C-41 offshore Campos basin, Brazil.

The carbonate reservoir holds 32 m (105 ft) of net pay. OGX says drilling will continue to target TD of 3,450 m (11,319 ft).

The well is 78 km (48 mi) offshore the state of Rio de Janeiro in 130 m (427 ft) of water. Ocean Ambassador is drilling the well.

Called the Santa Helena prospect, well data indicates to OGX that there is connectivity between this prospect and discoveries at Etna (OGX-6) and Pipeline (OGX-2). Santa Helena is 1.8 km (1 mi) northwest of Etna and 6.41 km (4 mi) northeast of Pipeline.
