ENI wins approval for Barents Sea well

ENI Norge has clearance from the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate to drill a wildcat in the Barents Sea.

OSLO – ENI Norge has clearance from the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate to drill a wildcat in the Barents Sea.

The Polar Pioneer will drill well 7210/12-5 in production license 489, 78 km (48 mi) from shore (Sørøya) and 50 km (31 mi) from the ENI-operated Goliat field.

ENI has a 40% interest in the license, awarded in 2008, which comprises blocks 7120/11-1 and 7120/12-2. Partners are Statoil and Petoro.
