RIO DE JANEIRO– Petrobras’ recent first exploratory well in Brazil’s ultra-deepwater Sergipe-Alagoas Basin cost $40 million. The company expects to commit further investments of around $200 million prior to the start of production.

The reservoirs identified in well 1-SES-158 are similar to those found in the Campos Basin, Petrobras adds. Drilling continues to deepen the well to assess older reservoirs.
