WOKING, UK -- EnQuest’s latest exploration well on the Don South West in the UK North Sea failed to meet its objective, according to partner Valiant Petroleum.

The Don Southwest 'H' Panel well (211/18a-28) was drilled to a TD of around 11,150 ft (3,400 m). It encountered a Brent sand formation with low oil saturations, indicating a breached residual oil column. The well will be plugged and abandoned.

On completion of this task, the semisubJohn Shaw will drill the initial well of the Phase III program, a pilot hole into Area 'E'. Valiant says this structure could contain oil reserves of 7-10 MMbbl.
