BERGEN, Norway -- The partnership in license PL 559 offshore mid-Norway has committed to drill an exploration well in late 2011.

Rocksource, one of the partners, estimates that this well, if successful, could add around 50 MMboe net risked resources to its 2011 drilling program. This program currently comprises five sanctioned wells with potential rewards to Rocksource of over 200 MMboe net risked resources.

PL 559, awarded under Norway’s APA 2009 licensing round, is on the Nordland Ridge, immediately east of the Norne, Urd, Falk, and Linerle fields. There are three main prospects and several leads on the license. All three prospects have positive electromagnetic responses.

The PL 559 partnership comprises Rocksource as operator, VNG Norge, and Skagen 44. The well will be drilled by the semisubmersibleBorgland Dolphin.
