Lundin starts hunt on Norall

STOCKHOLM, Sweden -- Lundin Petroleum has started to drill the Norall exploration prospect in Norwegian North Sea license PL 409.

Well 16/7-9 is being drilled east of the Sleipner East field by the semisub Transocean Winner.

The well targets the Jurassic/Triassic age sandstones in a four-way dip structural closure, estimated to contain gross unrisked prospective resources of 27 MMboe.

The planned TD is 2,700 m (8,858 ft) below mean sea level. Drilling should take 40 days to complete. Partners are Bayerngas Norge and Statoil.
