NPD approves Det norske well

OSLO, Norway -- Det norske oljeselskap is cleared to drill an exploratory well in license 341 in the central Norwegian North Sea.

The program, authorized by the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate, will be performed by the drilling rigSonga Delta after it has completed drilling well 6406/3-8 for Wintershall Norge in PL 475 BS.

PL 341 comprises block 24/12, and parts of blocks 24/9 and 24/11. The well will be drilled around 25 km (15.5 mi) southwest of Esso Norge’s Balder field.

The license was issued under Norway’s APA2004 licensing round. This will be the second well drilled on the concession.
