LONDON -- EnCore Oil has contracted a rig for further drilling close to its Catcher oil discovery in the UK central North Sea block 28/9.

The heavy-duty jackupTransocean Galaxy II should return to the Catcher area later this week to drill up to four exploration and appraisal wells. First up will be a well on the Varadero exploration prospect, west of Catcher.

EnCore operates the Catcher/block 28/9 joint venture in partnership with Premier Oil, Wintershall, Nautical Petroleum, and Agora Oil & Gas.
