LIMASSOL, Cyprus -- Drilling contractor Songa Offshore has provided an update on the activities of its global rig fleet.
Offshore Western Australia, theSonga Venus has started work on the second of a firm three-well program for Shell Development (Australia).
Songa Mercur continues to operate offshore Sakhalin Island on a one-well contract for Gazflot.
In the Norwegian sector,Songa Dee is on charter to Marathon/Lundin in the North Sea. The rig is due to undergo a 30-day stay at the Westcon yard in Ølen, the work scope comprising repairs following the rig’s collision with the supply vessel Far Grimshader, replacement of a deck crane, and general maintenance.
Songa Delta is working for Wintershall/Det Norske Oljeselskap, and Songa Trim for Statoil.
In Singapore,Songa Eclipse is under construction at Jurong Shipyard. Recently the helideck, bridge controls and BOP handling crane were installed. Outfitting work continues, and construction is progressing on schedule, with an estimated delivery date of end-April 2011.The company is actively marketing the rig for several contracts targeted to start up shortly after commissioning and delivery.
Available is theSonga Saturn, which has been warm stacked in Malta undergoing maintenance and operational preparedness for future contracts. This rig has undergone dry docking, painting and a five-year hull classification program.
