ASHKABAT, Turkmenistan -- Dragon Oil has completed the Dzheitune (Lam) 28/147 development well in the Turkmen sector of the Caspian Sea.

Well 28/147 was drilled to a depth of 3,400 m (11,155 ft) on a single completion basis. During a test on a 24/64-in., it flowed oil at an initial rate of 2,451 b/d with a well head flowing pressure of 1,450 psi (99.97 bar). This is the second in a series of wells the company is drilling from the Dzheitune (Lam) 28 platform, using the NIS rig.

The NIS rig has since skidded to the next slot on the platform and spudded the Dzheitune (Lam) 28/149 well.

Dr Abdul Jaleel Al Khalifa, Dragon’s CEO, said: "This brings the company to a total of seven new development wells to date this year and we remain on target to complete 11 new wells in 2010.”
