OSLO, Norway -- The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD) has authorized Norwegian Energy Co. (Noreco) to drill a wildcat in the North Sea.
The semisubmersible West Alpha will drill well 17/6-1 in production license PL 545, after completing the 34/4-13 S appraisal well for Petro-Canada Norge AS in PL 375.
PL 545 comprises block 17/3, and parts of blocks 17/2, 5, and 6. It was awarded in February under Norway’s APA2009 licensing round. This will be the first well drilled within the license area.
