OSLO, Norway -- Norske Shell is set to resume appraisal drilling on the Ormen Lange field in the Norwegian Sea. This follows approval for a new well from the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate.
Appraisal well 6305/4-2 S will be drilled by the West Navigator on production license 209, after the rig has completed a production well 6305/7-D 3 H on Ormen Lange.
The permit area includes parts of blocks 6305/1, 6305/2, 6305/4, and 6305/5. The well will be drilled 135 km (84 mi) northeast of Kristiansund.
