LONDON – Afren says its Okwok-9 appraisal well offshore southeast Nigeria found 35 ft (10 ½ m) of net pay in the D2 reservoir and tested 31º API oil at sustained rates. The company now is considering stand-alone development versus tieback to Ebok.
Okwok-9 reached TD of 8,083 ft (2,464 m) and the flow test lasted 48 hours and was shut-in to test pressure buildup, which equaled initial reservoir pressure. Other log and test data analysis is under way to establish whether the Okwok field is commercial.
