OSLO -- North Sea wildcat well 15/9-23 is dry, says operator Det Norske Oljeselskap ASA.
The well’s objective was to prove petroleum in reservoir rocks in the Middle Jurassic (the Hugin and Sleipner formations) and Upper Triassic (the Skagerrak formation). The well did not encounter the Hugin formation. The Sleipner and the Skagerrak formations showed the expected reservoir development and quality, the company says.
The rig Bredford Dolphin drilled the well to TD of 3,200 m (10,499 ft) below the sea surface. The well was terminated in the Skagerrak formation in strata from the Upper Triassic. It will be permanently plugged and abandoned.
