Borgland Dolphin to begin Skarv field operations

STAVANGER, Norway -- The rig Borgland Dolphin is scheduled to begin drilling on the Skarv field on Jan. 5, according to BP.

The 17-well program includes one exploration well. Borgland Dolphin will drill until spring 2011 when it will be replaced by Polar Pioneer, which will continue drilling until 2013.

The wells will be drilled in water depths between 320 m and 400 m (1,050 ft and 1,312 ft). The wells will be around 5,000 m (16,404 ft) long and will reach five different areas in the reservoir Skarv A, B and C, Tilje and Idun.
