OSLO -- Songa Offshore SE has secured a one-well firm, plus one-well optional, extension agreement to its existing one-well contract from CNOOC Africa. This relates to continued use of the drillship Songa Saturn offshore Equatorial Guinea. The firm part of the extension guarantees employment for the vessel through end-March, and has an estimated value of around $10 million.

The Songa Saturn left Malta on December 21 after completing an upgrade allowing it to work in 3,800 ft (1,158 m). It is expected to start operations for CNOOC off Equatorial Guinea in mid-January.
