LONDON -- Serica Energy is lining up wells on two exploration prospects offshore East Kalimantan, Indonesia.

The company operates the Mahakam River delta Kutai PSC which comprises five blocks extending offshore and onshore close to several giant fields.

Interpretation of 3D seismic revealed several prospective targets. Serica has contracted the jackup Trident IX to drill the Dambus and Marindan prospects with back-to-back wells. The rig should mobilize to Dambus later this month.

Dambus is in the northern part of the PSC. The well will target a sequence of Miocene stacked sands in a dip and fault closure on the up-thrown side of a major fault.

Marindan is in the southern sector of the permit – Serica aims to drill a deviated well to test numerous Miocene clastic and carbonate targets.

In the East Seruway PSC offshore North Sumatra, the company is interpreting new seismic acquired earlier this year. It plans to drill its first exploration well on the block next year.
