ABERDEEN, UK -- Dana Petroleum says a new well will be drilled early next year on the Goosander field in the Greater Kittiwake Area of the UK central North Sea.

The well, to be drilled by Noble’s Ton van Langeveld, will target new oil reserves. If successful, these should be brought onstream next summer via subsea facilities connected to the Centrica-operated Kittiwake platform.

The partners have also gained approval to drill the Whitethroat exploration well in the area, using the same rig. Efforts are under way to identify further oil tieback prospects in the area.
