HOUSTON -- Coastal Energy has completed its latest well on the Bua Ban field development in the Gulf of Thailand.

Bua Ban A-06 was drilled to a TVD of 7,584 ft (2,311 m), encountering around 40 ft (12 m) of net pay with 17.5% porosity in the Lower Oligocene reservoir.

The well was equipped with an electric submersible pump and currently flows around 800 b/d.

At the Bua Ban A-03 well, Coastal adds, the Miocene section has been completed and is delivering roughly 80 b/d. Two further wells, Bua Ban A-04 and A-07, are under way. Production testing will start once they have been completed.

At Coastal’s Songhkla field complex in the same region, the four wells at Songkhla A are performing in line with modeled rates. The company’s total offshore production from the Gulf of Thailand now stands at around 11,800 b/d.

Coastal has extended its contract for theAtwood Vicksburg through June 30, 2011. The rig will be deployed for further development of Bua Ban and for exploration drilling on nearby satellites structures.
