HOUSTON -- The Songkhla B-02 sidetrack offshore Thailand has encountered 12 ft (4 m) of net pay in the Lower Oligocene reservoir. The interval has a 300-ft (91-m) minimum oil column, although Coastal Energy reports that estimated reserves cannot support a standalone development. Preliminary evaluations indicate that the reservoir may be reached with a high angle well from the Songkhla A structure. The company is currently plugging and abandoning the existing Songkhla B wells.

The Songkhla A-04 well is producing approximately 3,000 b/d of oil. The company has begun workover operations on Songkhla A-03 to install a larger electric submersible pump and the well is expected to resume production soon. Coastal will conduct similar operations on Songkhla A-01. Current production from Songkhla A is approximately 8,000 b/d of oil.
