OSLO-- Det norske oljeselskap will drill an exploration well in the southern North Sea with the semisub Bredford Dolphin, following clearance from Petroleum Safety Authority Norway.
Well 15/12-22 will be drilled on production license 337, at a location 15 km (9.3 mi) northeast of the Talisman-operated Varg field, and 215 km (133 mi) from Karmøy, in a water depth of 83 m (272 ft).
Drilling is expected to start shortly, with an estimated duration of 35 days if the well is dry and 87 days in the event of a discovery, including a sidetrack, testing, and logging. Bredford Dolphin, owned by Fred Olsen, is a third-generation Aker H-3 type semi, built in 1976.
