Mariner hits pay in Gulf of Mexico deepwater

An exploration well on the Mandy prospect in the Gulf of Mexico Mississippi Canyon block 199 has hit pay, according to partner Mariner Energy.

HOUSTON -- An exploration well on the Mandy prospect in the Gulf of Mexico Mississippi Canyon block 199 has hit pay, according to partner Mariner Energy. LLOG operates the well with a 35% working interest.

Mandy, drilled in 2,500 ft (762 m) of water, has a pre-drill estimate of about 10 MMBoe.

Meanwhile, the company has hit gas on the GoM shelf in South Pass block 75. The company is five-for-five in its 2010 drilling program. Total drilling capex for this year is $660 million, 36% of which is allocated for seven to 10 deepwater wells, 24% is for eight to 10 wells on the shelf.
