OSLO -- Appraisal well 16/1-11 has identified a 57-m (187-ft) hydrocarbon column in the same reservoir interval as that found by well 16/1-9 in 2008, says operator Det norske oljeselskap. The well also found non-movable oil in deeper Trassic formations.
Intended to delineate the Draupne discovery, the well was drilled to a planned TD of 2,625 m (8,612 ft) by the semisub Songa Delta.
The license partners plan a production test for the oil zone. As drilling has not identified oil-water contact in well 16/1-9 or 16/1-11,, Det norske oljeselskap is considering a sidetrack for the current well.
