RIO DE JANEIRO -- Petrobras has begun extended well testing following the installation of the semisubmersible platform SS-11 Atlantic Zephyr in exploratory block BM-S-40 in the Santos basin’s Tiro e Sídon areas. The platform can produce up to 20,000 b/d of oil and treat 475,720 cu m/d of gas.
Petrobras discovered the Tiro and Sídon deposits in 2009 at a depth of 2,100 m (6,889 ft), 250 m (820 ft) from the water line.
Early results indicate the presence of good quality oil (34° API) with 150 MMboe of estimated recoverable reserves. EWT production, estimated at 10,000 b/d, initially will be stored using the FSO Avaré and transported to the mainland in shuttle tankers.
The two-stage Tiro and Sídon EWT comprises: 1. One year of production from well 1-SPS-56 in the Tiro accumulation 2. One year of production well 1-SPS-57 in the Sídon area
During the second quarter, Petrobras plans to drill well SCS-13, east of Tyre and Sidon, in block BM-S-12. Previous drilling activity indicated the presence of hydrocarbons and potential in the pre-salt area, the company says.
Petrobras says the results of the test, added to the evaluation of nearby fields, such as Cavalo Marinho, Caravela, and Estrela do Mar, will help define future development of the Santos basin Southern Pole discoveries and determine feasibility of installing an integrated production system in the region.
