Seadrill has a letter of intent from Statoil for use of its harsh environment jackup West Epsilon on the Norwegian continental shelf for four years, with an estimated contract value of around S$394 million.

STAVANGER, Norway -- Seadrill has a letter of intent from Statoil for use of its harsh environment jackup West Epsilon on the Norwegian continental shelf for four years, with an estimated contract value of around S$394 million. The program is due to start on Dec. 29, in continuation of the rig's present assignment, keeping it employed until January 2015.
West Epsilon is at work on the Sleipner field in the North Sea.
Statoil has also snapped up Dolphin’s semisubmersible Bredford Dolphin for a three-year program offshore Norway – again, in continuation of a current contract – starting Jan. 27, 2011.
The estimated value is around $421 million, but this could rise to $553 million if Statoil opts to extend the contract by a further year before Nov. 1.
