Oman development targets Cretaceous

Single well development for West Bukha project offshore Oman

(Oman) Drilling is under way of the West Bukha-2 appraisal/development well in Block 8, offshore Oman. According to operator Indago Oman, the well is targeting Cretaceous carbonate reservoirs at a total depth of around 4,100 m.

West Bukha lies 25-km offshore the Sultanate of Oman. Three wells were drilled on the structure between 1975 and 1986, of which two produced gas and condensate. Indago has recently processed and interpreted 3D seismic over the structure, allowing it to establish a more accurate geological model for optimum reservoir intersection. West Bukha-2 should be completed and flow tested in September; the field is being developed via a wellhead platform.
