Chevron drills successful sidetrack on Big Foot discovery

US, GoM -- Chevron reached total vertical depth with its Big Foot sidetrack well and encountered similar pay intervals to the discovery well. The well was drilled on Walker Ridge block 29 in 5,000 ft of water, approximately 225 mi south of New Orleans.
The Big Foot well No. 2 Sidetrack 3 reached a total vertical depth of 24,434 ft to a location approximately one-half mi north and "significantly downdip" of the discovery well. The sidetrack hit approximately 300 ft of net oil pay. According to Chevron, further appraisal drilling will be conducted.
Chevron is operator and 60% owner of Big Foot. Partners include Anadarko (15%), Plains E&P (12.5%), and Shell (12.5%).
