Water-depth completion record set by Deepwater Millennium

The world record water depth for a well completion was set at 2,731 m (8,960 ft) by Transocean's Deepwater Millennium drilllship in the Gulf of Mexico for Anadarko at the Independence Hub project.

HOUSTON --The world record water depth for a well completion was set at 2,731 m (8,960 ft) by Transocean's Deepwater Millennium drilllship in the Gulf of Mexico for Anadarko at the Independence Hub project.

The drillship set its most recent record at Lloyd's Ridge block 399 on the Cheyenne 2 well.

The drillship has set four water depth completion records this year, all in the GoM. The previous record was 2,543 m (8,344 ft) set at Atwater Valley.

TheDeepwater Millennium began its assault on depth records in 2000 when it became the first rig to operate in 2,438 m (8,000 ft) of water in the GoM. The Pathfinder-class rig can work in up to 3,048 m (10,000 ft) of water. Its drilling depth capacity is 9,144 m 30,000 ft).
