PERTH, Australia -- The Xena-1ST1 in Carnarvon basin block WA-350-P off Western Australia is likely to be a new gas discovery, according to Woodside Petroleum Ltd.
Wireline logs are being run on the 3,490 m well, and preliminary analysis indicates a gross gas column of about 49 m in good quality reservoir sandstones, said Woodside.
TheJack Bates semisubmersible drilled the well, about 180 km northwest of Karratha and 6 km east of the Pluto-2 appraisal well in water depth of 178 m.
