OSLO, Norway -- Norway's Petroleum Directorate has cleared Statoil to drill a well in North Sea block 16/4, using the semisubmersible West Epsilon. The location is 9.5 km (6 mi) north-east of the 16/7-2 H discovery, east of the Sleipner fields.

The block lies within Production License 339, which was awarded to Statoil in 2004. This will be the fourth well drilled on the acreage.
