OSLO, Norway -- Hydro has made its third new oil find in the past 18 months in the Oseberg area. Well 30/9-B-19 A, drilled from the Oseberg B platform, was targeting the Statfjord formation in the Gamma structure – this lies beneath the Brent reservoir, the source of all Oseberg's production since the field came on stream in 1988.
To the northwest, Hydro is making good progress with its Oseberg Vestflank subsea development, which will comprise three producer wells in the Statfjord formation. The first of these wells came on-line in February.
Last year, Hydro also discovered the J Central and B-South accumulations. The former is already in production, while the latter will likely be developed via an extended reach well from the Oseberg South platform.
