More accurate BOP handling

JD Neuhaus supplying air-driven BOP handling systems for new rigs under construction by Keppel Fels in Singapore

Offshore staff

(Singapore) Air hoist manufacturer JD Neuhaus has won a contract to supply BOP handling systems to Keppel Fels in Singapore for five jack-up drilling rigs. The air-driven systems will have a carrying capacity of 120 tons, and will each comprise two JDN EH 60 monorail hoists, with four chain falls.

The JDN motor brake release facility allows the BOP stack to be lowered with accurate speed control in the event of air supply failure. In this instance, the brake system is released and the hoist limits the speed to the maximum that would occur under normal operating conditions.
