MELBOURNE, Australia -- BHP Billiton launched a technology center in Perth, one of three such centers, in support of its Western Australia projects.
"The Perth Technology Centre is now a key part of our global innovation network that includes key activities in Melbourne, Santiago, Beijing, and Moscow, as well as partnerships with the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Monash University, the Indian Institute of Technology, and St Petersburg and Moscow State Universities," said Chip Goodyear, CEO.
Some 40 technology roles have relocated from across Australia into the center, and its staff is expected to grow to more than 100.
The center was opened Aug. 3 in the Australian Resources Research Centre at Technology Park by Goodyear and Western Australia Premier Alan Carpenter.
