MILAN -- Eni has made a new gas discovery with its Longhorn exploration well in Mississippi Canyon block 546, around 195 km southeast of New Orleans. The well was drilled to a total depth beyond 3,900 m in 750 m of water.
Eni holds a 50% working interest in the block, while Nexen Petroleum (operator) holds the remaining 50%.
Eni also says it started production at its Allegheny South field in Green Canyon block 298. Oil production of 3,000 b/d was achieved 18 months after discovery and is being produced through the company's 100% owned and operated, Allegheny platform.
Eni holds lease interests in over 300 blocks in the GoM; 90% are located in deepwater. The company's current net production in the Gulf is equivalent to 44,000 b/d of oil.
