ConocoPhillips receives Ekofish drilling consent

The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate has awarded consent to ConocoPhillips (COP) to conduct exploration drilling of well 8/10-3 using the Mærsk Gallant.

STAVANGER -- The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate has awarded consent to ConocoPhillips (COP) to conduct exploration drilling of well 8/10-3 using the Mærsk Gallant. The 176-day drilling program is expected to begin in March.

ConocoPhillips has also received consent to use the jackupMærsk Innovator for drilling and plugging on the Ekofisk field.

The consent relates to the drilling of a sidetrack from production well 2/4-B-9-B, 2/4-B-9-B, and for plugging of well 2/4-B-7. According to the application for consent, this activity will be carried out while theMærsk Innovator is operating on Ekofisk, during the period from May to September 2009.
