LONDON --Testing of the deepwater Jubilee-9 discovery well offshore Ghana will start shortly, according to partner Tullow Oil.
Phase 1 of Jubilee remains on track for first oil in the second half of 2010, the company adds. The FPSO tanker conversion and subsea equipment construction are progressing as planned; five development wells are in place and a further seven should be drilled by year-end.
Tullow itself expects to spud an appraisal well on its adjoining Mahogany find next month, followed by appraisal of the Tweneboa structure, both in the Deepwater Tano license. The Twenoboa-1 exploratory well in March discovered a high pressure, light hydrocarbon accumulation with potential reserves of up to 1.4 Bboe.
