BPZ Resources begins offshore Peru drilling

BPZ Resources has begun drilling the 19D appraisal and development well on the Corvina field in block Z-1, offshore Peru.

HOUSTON -- BPZ Resources has begun drilling the 19D appraisal and development well on the Corvina field in block Z-1, offshore Peru.

The well is a step out to the 21XD discovery well, completed in 2007. Well 19D is being drilled up dip to further appraise the field.

The company is implementing a well design to minimize wellbore deviation inside the target formation and allow for proper cementing. According to the company, the new design will help alleviate the previous gas channeling issues encountered in its two previous high angle wells.
