TRONDHEIM, Norway -- The semisub Bredford Dolphin has spudded the Jetta prospect in North Sea production license 27D, according to drilling operator Det norske. If discoveries are made, Jetta can potentially be developed via existing infrastructure on the nearby Jotun field, the company says.

“We expect to find oil in the Paleocene sandstone approximately 2 km (1.2 mi) below the seabed,” says Sigmund Hanslien, VP of geology for Det norske. “This is an area in which important discoveries have been made before, including Balder, Jotun, Ringhorne, and Grane.”
