NEW YORK -- Discovery well A1-54/01, offshore Libya, has flowed at a rate of 27 MMcf/d of natural gas and 533 b/d of condensate on a 52/64-in. choke, according to operator Hess Libya Exploration Ltd.
The well was originally drilled in the Arous Al-Bahar prospect in 2008 and encountered hydrocarbons in several intervals with a combined gross section of approximately 500 ft (152 m). Hess recently re-entered and perforated the well over a 300-ft (91-m) carbonate interval and performed a drill stem test using the drillship Stena Forth.
Well A1-54/01 was drilled in 2,807 ft (856 m) of water in Area 54, which is 35 mi (56 km) offshore in the Sirte basin.
