RIO DE JANEIRO -- Well 1-OGX-2A-RJS in BM-C-41 block in the shallow waters of southern part of the Campos basin has hit pay, according to operator OGX. The well encountered an oil-bearing interval in the aptian section.

Oil shows in the cuttings and log analysis of the well indicate a 70-m (230-ft) oil column and net pay around 50 m (164 ft). The reservoirs are conglomerates, sandstones, and carbonates, with up to 20% porosity, the company says. Drilling is still in progress, aiming at additional targets.
