Chevron makes Carnarvon basin gas discovery

Operator Chevron has made a natural gas discovery in the Carnarvon basin, offshore Western Australia.

SAN RAMON, California -- Operator Chevron has made a natural gas discovery in the Carnarvon basin, offshore Western Australia. The Satyr-1 exploration well was drilled to 14,960 ft (4,560 m) TD and encountered 425 ft (130 m) of net gas pay.

Satyr-1 is in the WA-374-P permit area in 3,510 ft (1,070 m) of water. Chevron Australia holds a 50% interest, while Shell Development (Australia) and Mobil Australia Resources each hold a 25% interest.
