WELLINGTON, New Zealand -- The Albacore-1 well is dry, according to operator Westech. The jackup ENSCO 107 drilled the well to a total depth of 2,133 m (6,998 ft), finding only traces of hydrocarbons.

The company is currently running wireline logs to gather additional information, but has deemed the well non-commercial. Once the logging is completed, the well will be plugged and abandoned.
