DUBLIN -- Vega Oil is looking to drill an appraisal well next year on the Elsa discovery in the central Adriatic Sea, according to partner Petroceltic.

An environmental impact assessment for the well location has been submitted to Italy’s Environment Ministry, and tenders are out for equipment and materials.

An independent reserve audit of Elsa, in permit BR268RG, suggests best-estimate contingent recoverable resources of 104 MMbbl.

Elsewhere offshore Italy, Petroceltoc has applied for four new E&P permits in the Sicily Channel and Gulf of Otranto regions.
