STOCKHOLM – The semisub Songa Dee has spudded exploration well 24/9-9S on the Marihøne prospect in license PL340 in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea, according to partner Lundin Petroleum.
The well will target Hermod and Heimdal sandstones of Paleocene/Eocene age. Lundin Petroleum estimates that the main prospect, Marihøne, contains gross unrisked prospective resources of 34 MMboe.
The well has a planned total depth of approximately 2,200 m (7,218 ft) below mean sea level. Drilling is expected to take approximately 40 days.
Lundin Petroleum has a 15% working interest in the license, which is operated by Marathon Petroleum.
