STOCKHOLM – The Liyeke Marine-1 well is dry, according to Lundin Petroleum. The well in block Marine Xl, offshore Congo (Brazzaville) has been plugged and abandoned.
The jackup Pride Cabinda drilled the well to a total depth of 1,140 m (3,740 ft). The well encountered a water-bearing Sendji formation and a 62-m (203-ft) heavy oil column in the overlying sediments. Log and sample data indicated that oil would not flow, the company says.
Pride Cabinda is now preparing to move to a second well, an appraisal of the existing pre-salt Viodo oil field.
