RIO DE JANEIRO -- Exploratory well 3-MA-32A in the Campos basin has hit 30-m (98-ft) thick reservoirs of good porosity and permeability, Petrobras reports.
The well, in a new producer area that extends the Marimbá field to the north in the Campos basin’s post-salt layer, confirmed the presence of light 29° API oil.
According to company estimates, the discovery contains 25 MMbbl of recoverable oil and will increase Marimbá field's recoverable volume by 27%.
Petrobras plans to connect the well to the nearby P-8 platform via already installed infrastructure. Production is anticipated in August 2010.
