RIO DE JANEIRO -- Well 1-OGX-2A-RJS in Campos basin block BM-C-41 has encountered oil in Upper Cretacious reservoirs, according to OGX Petróleo e Gás Participações (OGX).

The discovery contains between 400 and 500 MMbbl of recoverable oil, the company says.

“As expected, we have identified additional layers containing oil in the well OGX-2A, confirming the significant potential of the area,” says Paulo Mendonça, General Executive Officer of OGX. “The drilling is still in progress, as there are other important, deeper objectives to be achieved beyond those already announced.”
