STAVANGER, Norway -- Statoil has awarded Diamond Offshore a three-year, $382-million contract for the Ocean Vanguard. The company has also signed a three-year $437-million, contract with Saipem for the semisubmersible Scarabeo 5.

“The two rigs are well known for their contributions to our operations on the shelf,” says Øystein Michelsen, Statoil’s executive VP of exploration and production in Norway. “The flexibility provided by these rigs in terms of conventional drilling, completion, high pressure, high temperatures, and deep water are in line with our plans for exploration and production in the future.”
