Northern Offshore to support Azeri drilling campaign

Caspian Drilling Co. (CDC), a subsidiary of Azeri state oil company SOCAR, has contracted Northern Offshore for drilling support services in the Caspian Sea.

HOUSTON -- Caspian Drilling Co. (CDC), a subsidiary of Azeri state oil company SOCAR, has contracted Northern Offshore for drilling support services in the Caspian Sea.
The $21 million contract, which runs through July 2011, involves technical and operational support in management of the semisub Dada Gorgud.
Drilling operations will be performed on acreage in the Azeri sector operated by BP, on behalf of a consortium also comprising Chevron, SOCAR, INPEX, Statoil, ExxonMobil, TPAO, Itochu, Hess, and Devon. CDC has been the semisubmersible drilling rig contractor on this acreage for over 14 years.
Northern’s team in Baku will provide the technical and operational support services, assisted by staff in the company’s branch in Aberdeen.
